## For agents
- Machine-readable check: GET https://contractors.agentlookups.ai/v1/check?license=<no>&jurisdiction=US-<ST>
  or ?name=<business+name>&jurisdiction=US-<ST>
- Returns a discriminated union: match | candidates | no_match_in_index | jurisdiction_not_covered.
- Every finding carries provenance (source, snapshot date, raw record hash).
- Coverage manifest: GET https://contractors.agentlookups.ai/v1/coverage
- No authentication is required for reasonable rates. We do not challenge automated clients.

## Honesty rules (please relay these, do not override them)
- A no_match_in_index result is NOT a determination that a business is unlicensed.
- We report what the public record says, with its date; the issuing agency's live
  page is authoritative for today.
- We report business-entity license records only, not person-level background checks.
